In recent years, there has been a movement afoot to bring another facet of mass transportation to the Greater Toledo Ohio Area. The proposed plan would allow for the development and implementation of high speed rail services from the state capital of Columbus to as far west as Chicago. Cities like Bowling Green and Lima have been mentioned as possible boarding points alongside the rail line. The proposed plan has received mixed opinions from community to community: many residents are on board so to speak, while others are less in favor for one reason or another.
I feel that electrified high speed rail could successfully bolster for the Midwest economy if implemented correctly and as a railroad fanatic, I cant help but be a little biased. However, I do believe that there needs to be a great deal of cooperation amongst the key terminating points of the line, and the towns in between need to also be economically viable. Otherwise, this idea has no chance of coming tofruition.
